What do the results mean?
Ultrafast broadband (100 Mbps+)
Full Fibre (FTTP) means fibre optic cable runs all the way to your home — the fastest and most reliable type of broadband. Virgin Media cable also falls into this tier. If this is available, it's the best option.
Superfast broadband (30–80 Mbps)
Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) runs fibre to a street cabinet, then copper from the cabinet to your home. Available to most UK addresses. Good for typical households — streaming, working from home, gaming.
Standard broadband (up to 24 Mbps)
ADSL uses your existing phone line. Available almost everywhere but the slowest option. Speed depends heavily on how far you are from the telephone exchange.
Is Full Fibre (FTTP) available in my area?
Full Fibre broadband is being rolled out rapidly across the UK. Openreach (BT's infrastructure arm) is building FTTP to the majority of UK homes by the late 2020s. In urban areas, it's already available to most properties.
If the checker shows Full Fibre is not yet available at your postcode, it may still be coming soon — check back in a few months. In the meantime, Superfast FTTC broadband from BT, Sky, Vodafone or Plusnet provides a solid alternative for most households.
