Outdoor premises coverage — hover a local authority for details

Which network has the best UK coverage?
Coverage varies significantly between operators and between 4G and 5G. EE consistently scores highest for outdoor 4G coverage across the UK, while 5G availability is more uneven — concentrated in cities and urban areas.
Use the map above to compare operators in your specific local authority. A network with 98% coverage nationally may still have gaps in your exact area.
4G vs 5G coverage
4G coverage is near-universal for all four main operators in most of England. Coverage in rural Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can be patchier.
5G coverage is still being rolled out. All four operators have launched 5G in major cities and towns, but rural areas often have no 5G at all. Check the 5G layer on the map to see what's available in your area.
About this map
Coverage data is sourced from Ofcom's Connected Nations 2024 report. Figures show the percentage of premises within each local authority that receive outdoor mobile coverage at a usable signal level. Indoor coverage is typically lower.
Actual signal experience may vary due to local terrain, building materials and device capability.
